Duong, who was only 42 years old, succumbed to a relentless battle with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, an aggressive form of cancer. His diagnosis came after he experienced troubling symptoms, including a headache and a noticeable bulge in his left eye, which ultimately led to the discovery of a malignant mass blocking blood flow to his optic nerve.
During his time in the spotlight, Duong portrayed the character Sonny Le on the popular television series “Blue Bloods” from 2021 to 2024. His work resonated with audiences, and he was known for his engaging performances and comedic talent.
Duong’s health deteriorated rapidly after his diagnosis, and he spent two and a half weeks in the hospital before his death. He went into septic shock shortly before passing, a grim turn in an already heartbreaking journey.
“He was alert enough to say goodbye to his little girl, whom he has treasured every moment since the day she was born,” Steele added, highlighting the deep bond Duong shared with his family. He is survived by his wife, Christina, and their five-year-old daughter, Everest.
In February 2025, a GoFundMe page was established to support Duong and his family during his treatment, reflecting the community’s desire to rally around him in his time of need.
