Cole Strange Signs with Chargers
Cole Strange has agreed to terms with the Los Angeles Chargers on a two-year contract worth $13 million. This signing marks a pivotal moment for both Strange and the Chargers as they look to strengthen their offensive line.
Strange, who was a first-round pick of the New England Patriots in 2022, played 14 games last season for the Miami Dolphins, starting every game. Over his career, he has participated in 44 games with 43 starts, primarily at left guard, but also contributing at right guard and center.
Most notably, Strange suffered a torn patellar tendon in late 2023, which led to his release by the Patriots before the start of his third season. His journey began at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where he was a five-year starter and became the highest-drafted player in the history of the program.
The Chargers are currently overhauling their interior offensive line after losing both starting guards, making Strange’s addition timely. In addition to Strange, the Chargers have also signed center Tyler Biadasz to a three-year, $30 million deal, indicating a clear strategy to bolster their front line.
Adam Schefter reported, “Cole Strange has agreed to terms with the Chargers,” highlighting the significance of this move. The signing reunites Strange with coach Mike McDaniel, who previously coached him in Miami.
Observers note that Strange likely arrives with the promise of being in the mix for a starting guard job. McDaniel has evidently identified Strange as a needed piece while he looks to implement his new blocking schemes.
As the Chargers prepare for the upcoming season, the integration of Strange and Biadasz into the offensive line will be closely monitored. Their performances will be crucial in determining the team’s success on offense.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding how quickly Strange will adapt to the Chargers’ system and whether he will fully recover from his previous injury.
