“Our belief has always been that payments should be safe, easy, and highly accessible,” said Randolph Pinna, President and CEO of Currency Exchange International (CXI), as the company announced its recent membership in the Payment Choice Coalition (PCC).
The PCC is a bipartisan organization dedicated to promoting the importance of cash in the payments system and advocating for the passage of the Payment Choice Act. CXI’s involvement signals a commitment to enhancing the landscape of currency exchange services.
CXI provides a range of currency exchange services through its branches, home delivery, and partnerships with over 1,400 U.S. banks and credit unions. This extensive network positions CXI as a key player in making currency exchange more accessible to consumers.
In a related development, Acceleron has partnered with Monex to streamline international payments and improve inbound wire processing. “This partnership introduces new capabilities our clients haven’t had before, all through a single API,” stated Damon Magnuski, CEO of Acceleron.
This collaboration allows financial institutions to access virtual International Bank Account Numbers (IBANs) and hold funds in multiple currencies, significantly enhancing the efficiency of cross-border transactions.
Acceleron currently serves over 200 financial institutions and facilitates more than $1 billion in international payments annually, showcasing its vital role in the global payment ecosystem.
Monex, a leader in foreign exchange solutions for over 40 years, managed $274 billion in deliverable FX trades in 2024 and employs over 2,800 people globally. Michael Wilson, Managing Director of Partnerships at Monex, emphasized the significance of their collaboration, stating, “Think of this as a turnkey infrastructure for cross-border payments.”
The integration of these services is expected to reshape how consumers and businesses engage with currency exchange, making it more efficient and user-friendly.
As the industry evolves, the focus remains on enhancing payment accessibility and security, aligning with the goals of both CXI and the PCC. The next steps for these organizations will likely involve further advocacy for legislative changes that support these advancements.
