Erika Kirk Appointed to the U.S. Air Force Academy Board
Erika Kirk has been appointed to the U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors by President Donald Trump, a move that underscores her commitment to continuing her late husband Charlie Kirk’s legacy. She will serve on the board for a minimum of three years or until a successor is chosen.
The board, which consists of 16 seats, currently has only two vacant positions following Erika Kirk’s appointment. It plays a crucial role in making recommendations to the Secretary of Defense and the president regarding various aspects of the Academy, including morale, discipline, curriculum, and fiscal affairs.
Erika Kirk, who is also the CEO and board chair of Turning Point USA, took over her husband’s responsibilities after his tragic assassination on September 10, 2025. She previously won Miss Arizona USA in 2012 and earned her Juris Master’s from Liberty University School of Law in 2019.
White House spokeswoman Olivia Wales praised the appointment, stating, “President Trump made the perfect choice in appointing Erika Kirk to the U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors.” She emphasized that Erika is the right person to fill Charlie’s place and continue his work of inspiring the next generation of service members.
Rep. August Pfluger, R-Texas, who chairs the board, echoed this sentiment, saying, “Erika Kirk will continue his legacy and be a fearless advocate for the most elite airpower force in the history of the world whose warriors keep our Nation safe, strong, and free.”
Charlie Kirk had served on the board prior to his death, inspiring many with his bold Christian faith and defense of the truth. His contributions to the Academy and the broader community are remembered fondly.
As Erika Kirk steps into this role, observers are keen to see how she will influence the board’s direction and uphold her husband’s vision. The board’s inquiries into the Academy’s operations will be critical as it navigates future challenges.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding any immediate changes or initiatives that may arise from her appointment, but the expectation is that Erika Kirk will bring a strong voice to the board in the coming years.
