Flash Flood Warning in Effect
A flash flood warning has been issued for Central Kent and Ottawa Counties until 3:30 a.m. Wednesday. Heavy rain and road flooding have been reported across both counties, with flash flooding already occurring and more heavy rain expected.
Community members are advised to be cautious and not drive through flooded roads. Areas included in the warning encompass Grand Rapids, Holland, Wyoming, Kentwood, Walker, Grandville, East Grand Rapids, Hudsonville, Rockford, Zeeland, Coopersville, Lowell, Jenison, Allendale, Ada, Grattan, and Port Sheldon.
The National Weather Service reported that heavy rainfall began around 9:28 p.m., contributing to the current flooding conditions. The region has experienced multiple high-impact flooding events in the past, which have caused widespread damage and loss of life.
In addition to the warning in Kent and Ottawa Counties, a Flash Flood Warning is also in effect for La Salle County, Illinois, until midnight Tuesday night. Furthermore, a Flood Watch is in effect for Cook, DuPage, Will, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, and La Salle counties in Illinois, as well as Lake and Porter counties in Indiana, until 3 a.m. Wednesday.
