Patrick Mahomes is so dedicated to his rehabilitation that he takes a trainer with him even during family weekends. This commitment follows his surgery to repair a torn ACL and LCL last December.
Since the operation, Mahomes has shown remarkable determination—he began his rehabilitation process just one day after surgery. According to Brett Veach, the Kansas City Chiefs’ general manager, Mahomes is way ahead of schedule in his recovery.
Veach noted, “He’s in our building every single day. And even when he goes away for a few days, say to Dallas for a weekend with his family, he takes one of our trainers with him.” Such dedication underscores Mahomes’ focus on returning stronger than ever.
Previously, Mahomes recovered from a dislocated knee in just three weeks. The Chiefs are now considering his participation in offseason workouts and training camp. Yet there’s a notable concern about protecting him from overexertion during training.
Veach expressed this concern succinctly: “I think the biggest challenge we’re going to have is protecting him against himself.” As the NFL offseason progresses, all eyes will be on how Mahomes manages his recovery while preparing for the upcoming season.
