Wolfgang Puck is set to cater the 98th Academy Awards Governors Ball on March 15, 2026, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. This marks the 32nd consecutive year that Puck has taken on this prestigious role, serving approximately 1,500 to 1,600 guests at one of Hollywood’s most exclusive celebrations.
For this year’s event, Puck will enlist the help of 120 chefs to prepare an impressive menu that includes a variety of dishes such as sushi, tempura, pasta, steak, macaroni and cheese, and chicken pot pie. Puck emphasized the importance of offering comfort food, noting that many attendees often arrive hungry after the ceremony.
In addition to the savory offerings, an elaborate dessert station will feature macarons, apple strudel, chocolate mousse, and cream-filled pastries, including his mother’s famous apple strudel with caramel sauce and tiramisu. Puck stated, “It’s always the greatest night in Hollywood for sure. But we always make a great variety of dishes.”
This year, a notable addition will be a big izakaya in the dining room, complete with five sushi chefs, showcasing Puck’s commitment to culinary innovation. He remarked, “This year, we’re going to have a big izakaya in the dining room.”
The scale of preparation is vast, with the staff planning to create 3,000 chocolate replicas of the Oscar statue, each covered in edible 24-carat gold. Other logistical details include 460 pizzas, 200 pounds of beef tenderloin, 100 pounds of sushi rice, and 50 pounds of sushi-grade hamachi.
The amount of work that goes into the Governors Ball after party is staggering, reflecting the high expectations associated with this iconic event. Puck’s dedication to excellence in catering has made him a staple in the industry, particularly for high-profile events like the Oscars.
As the event approaches, anticipation builds among attendees and industry insiders alike, eager to experience the culinary delights that Puck and his team will present at this year’s Governors Ball.
