“Appleton is digging itself out of ongoing blizzard conditions, with many schools and local businesses closing their doors March 16,” officials reported as the region faces severe winter weather.
On March 17, schools in the Appleton area, including Hortonville Area, Neenah (operating through virtual learning), New London (at-home learning), Kimberly, Appleton, and Menasha, are closed due to the aftermath of the storm.
In the Chicago area, multiple schools and school districts were either closed or delayed as the National Weather Service issued blizzard warnings and winter weather advisories for northern Illinois. Reports indicate that McHenry and DeKalb Counties could see between 4 to 7 inches of snow, while most other counties may experience 1 to 3 inches.
In South Carolina, several school districts are also closed or operating remotely due to adverse weather conditions. Chester County School District, Clover School District, Edgefield County School District, and others have announced closures for today.
Richland One Schools will not have e-learning today as they are closed, and Marion County Schools have also confirmed their closure. Meanwhile, Allendale County School District is conducting e-learning sessions.
As the weather continues to impact daily life, Kershaw State Government Office will close at 12 p.m. today, further indicating the severity of the conditions.
“Stay up to date on closings and cancellations across the state at South Carolina ETV and Public Radio,” a spokesperson advised, emphasizing the importance of staying informed during these challenging weather events.
With ongoing blizzard conditions affecting multiple regions, residents are encouraged to monitor local news for updates on school operations and weather advisories.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the duration of the closures and any potential make-up days for affected school districts.
